March 23, 2008

With the availability of innumerable perfume brands, it is very much likely that one will consider various parameters before settling for one particular brand.

Originally what one started off with a small family business selling leather goods, Gucci rose to prominence in the fashion industry at the hand of Guccio Gucci, who founded his saddler shop in 1906. It was then in 1938 Gucci fashions opened their first boutique. Eventually in 1960s, the symbol GG got associated with the Gucci brand and the people now started recognizing GG as Gucci brand. Gucci perfumes are an offshoot of this brand. Now it has become a common practice for fashion lines to branch out into the perfume industry.

Gucci has now become one of the top most fashion houses in the world.

A brief history about Gucci perfumes:

It was in 1990s that Gucci Perfumes ventured in perfume business. In 1995, Ford introduced a ready-to-wear collection that stunned the fashion world. After that success came more, as Gucci became the “it” designer for the stars. A desired feature of this perfume is that it is available for both man and women.

The packaging of the perfume is also fashionable and trendy one. It has clear pink lines and pink color GG logo on it. Envy me retails for around $82 for 3.4 ounces of their eau de toilette

One of its notes does consists of leather, however other notes include White Pepper, Pink Bay, Ginger from Yunnan, Papyrus wood, Orris Rhizome, Vetiver Root, Amber, White Olibanum. Gucci Eau De perfume II.  It has a lot of fruit in it with notes like blackberry and mandarin, along with nice floral touches like jasmine and heliotrope. Being an eau de perfume, it is more expensive than the eau de toilette. It is also available in Gift set form.
The gift Set includes a 0.17 oz Eau De Perfume, 6.8 oz Body Lotion, and a 1.7 oz Eau de Perfume Spray in a signature gift box. It has notes of Mandarin, Bitter Orange, Blackcurrant, Violet, Blackberry, Jasmine, Heliotrope, and Cedar wood. It retails for around $65 for 1.7 ounces, so if you wanted 3.4 ounces (compared to the Envy Me Eau de Toilette at $82) it would run you around $130. The reason for the price difference is that eau de perfume contains a higher concentration of perfume oils. For an eau de toilette, the fragrance should contain 4-10% perfume oil, and an eau de perfume will have between 8-15% perfume oil in it.
