Keeping your hair healthy and beautiful does not have to cost a fortune. In fact, with just a few common household ingredients, you can give your hair a deep moisturizing treatment, give yourself subtle highlights or prevent dandruff.

Do it yourself tips for health hair:

1. There are some foods that you better avoid consuming too much as they can cause your hair such harm you can’t possibly imagine. You should replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables. Essential fatty acids can also hugely help you achieve great shine and thickness. Avoid sweets, chocolates, cakes, cookies and other heavy saturated fats.

2. Vitamin B is mainly responsible for preventing the hair from thinning and graying. Besides taking plenty of proteins and diet rich in vitamins, you should also take plenty of curd.

3. Don’t shampoo every day. Shampooing your hair once every two or three days will help you achieve healthier hair. Shampooing hair every day makes it lose essential oils and leaves the hair and scalp dry, even if the shampoo is specifically for oily hair. You should, however, wash your hair with water every day.

4. Never comb wet hair. Hair is easily damaged when wet. Pat the wet hair carefully with a towel and dry it gently. Then wrap the towel around your hair so that moisture can work into your hair for a couple of minutes. Avoid covering your hair with a cap, hat or helmet when the hair is wet.

5. Pamper your hair by gently circling your fingers through it.

6. If you apply hair conditioner as you shampoo- starting at the scalp and working it through the hair-then stop. The hair closest to the roots is healthy new growth while the ends are sheer the damage is more. Reputed hair experts say that conditioning the roots weigh your hair down and makes it look greasy.

Homemade tips for healthy hair:

Home made Rinses-

Protect your hair with a hair rinse. These hair rinses correct the hair’s pH and remove residue from shampoo and other hair products, leaving the hair healthy and shiny. Vinegar removes build-up and residue from the hair shaft and closes the cuticles. Vinegar restores natural pH and prevents an itchy scalp. Although plain white vinegar works fine, apple cider vinegar seems to be the preferred vinegar. As your hair is drying you will smell vinegar but once your hair dries there will be no smell.

Homemade Dandruff control solution:

• One of the best ways to control dandruff is to apply a mix of vinegar and water to the scalp.
• Apply warm coconut oil on the scalp with a cotton ball.
• Mix some olive oil and almond oil and massage into your scalp. Leave for 5 minutes then rinse.
• Soak fenugreek (methi) seeds overnight and then grind to a paste. Apply paste to the scalp, leave for 20-30 minutes and then wash hair as usual.

Homemade Hair Conditioner:

• Mash a small avocado and combine with an egg yolk. Apply to hair for 15 minutes, then rinse and wash your hair as usual. This is a great moisturizing mask for your hair.
• Mix an egg yolk with 2 teaspoons of castor oil and massage into your hair. Rinse and wash your hair as usual afterwards.
• Mix 1 cup of sunflower oil and 1 cup of wheat germ oil. Warm the mixture and massage it on the head and hair. Wash off with lukewarm water in which one tablespoon of lemon juice has been added.
• Apply 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to damp hair. Work into hair and then cover with a shower cap or towel for up to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.
